Exhibition and Concert
Juli Lee & Tim Löhde
Sound-Performance: 01.09. 17:00
Goethe-Institut Tokyo, Foyer
7-5-56 Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo, 107-0052 Japan
Juli Lee and Tim Löhde are two artists from Bochum and Düsseldorf who are presenting their work at the Goethe-Institut Tokyo during a three-month research trip to various sound cultures and music communities in Taiwan, South Korea and Japan. They share a common interest in sound-based methods as well as multidisciplinary and audiovisual art. Both are pursuing the idea of expanding the forms of listening in the exhibition context and trying out new composition formats in their works.
They archive the impressions of their journey in artistic form with specially designed compact loudspeaker sculptures. With their compact form factor and a quiet, noise-like playback technique in loops, without a specific beginning and end, they pick up on the artists' working methods. In their exhibition at the Goethe-Institut, they will present some of these loudspeaker sculptures and play various compositions in the space. In an additional sound performance on Sunday 1 September at 17:00, the two artists will create a concert together with the loudspeaker sculptures, their instruments and other electronically amplified objects.
