2024.07.26 (Fri) 18:00—21:00 (GMT+8)
No. 99, Section 2, Tidding Avenue, Neihu District, Taipei, Taiwan
"Shaping Air: Open Space in Weaving" is a performance of real-time coding in which the performers, most of whom do not have a background in computer engineering, begin to create programmes through group co-learning, and combine sound sensors and object installation design to create a performance with the invited artists.
The performance is based on the concepts of free improvisation, West African drumming and ensemble work such as Terry Riley's In C, in which each person starts with a short line of code as a point of weaving, and the intersection of the sound produced by the code transformed into objects becomes lines, then surfaces, and finally outlines a large piece of invisible weaving fabric in the space. The audience will be able to move in and out of the performance and watch the performer's screen and its operation from a close distance, breaking the sense of distance between the performer and the audience through the computer screen on stage, and striving for openness in terms of both the content of the work and the form of the performance.
